After years of speaking, there are a few things I watch for when I’m on stage. Is the audience engaged? Are they leaning in or checking out? What expressions are on their faces as I talk? Are they laughing? Nodding because it resonates? Are they raising their hands if I ask questions? Is anyone giving me eye contact?
A keynote should feel like a conversation, not a lecture.
My goal is that as we look at your goals and what you are creating, we dive deep into what you want your attendees to experience. And we will be intentional and strategic around your topic, theme, and even if you have specific takeaways or needs.
Which is why I ask questions, tell personal and professional stories, and invite participation.
The goal is that I will never have to majorly pivot while I’m on stage because I got the details right during our pre-planning call.
And when I’m on stage, not only am I going to deliver, I’m going to be prepared to shift and make adjustments as needed if things are not landing quite the way we planned. And you better bet that I’m going to do what I can, within reason, to not have the audience fall asleep while I’m on stage. I’ll ask a question, slow down, or speed up, or tell a backup story that teaches the principle in a way that will land better if my first story didn’t quite capture the engagement I was expecting.

Step 1: Discovery call to ask you about your desired outcomes, gather the details to understand your needs, and learn about your business/team/organization/goals.
Step 2: Complete an assessment and provide a plan with a proposed solution.
Step 3: Review the proposal on a call to determine if changes are needed. The goal is to get aligned on what is fully needed to reach your desired outcome.
Step 4: Prep work (review existing documents, emails, resources to bring into conversations, create worksheets, tracking for conversations and coaching outcomes, create documents, etc.)
Step 5: Provide consulting and/or coaching (number of sessions, timeframes, project work, etc. vary based on each client’s need)
I will also check in as needed for plan adjustments based on information discovered in coaching.
Step 6: Debrief. Review what went well and if any follow-up or additional assistance is needed.

When you are solely “surviving” in your business or role, let’s be real…it sucks. This is why when someone comes to me ready to make a change or improve their skills as a leader it lights me up! This is when things start to really change for the better. Nothing gets me more excited than when a leader has identified they want to be better. Does coaching include training?
It depends on your desired outcome. Sometimes, individuals or businesses want coaching to help them reach a desired goal where training would not be required. Other times, they are looking for training and with simultaneous coaching to ensure they are getting the best possible opportunities to reach their desired outcomes.
Are you teaching them the consequences of not changing their behaviors?
Absolutely! If I’m working with one of your employees who doesn’t quite understand how their performance or behaviors affect others or the business, I will make sure to coach and provide resources to clue them in on their impact. I will also evaluate if they are not receiving the message or are not willing to make the necessary changes to meet standards.
How can you help an employee make the changes needed if this is a “personality” problem or issue?
The goal is to identify the root cause of such “personality” issues and determine the best approach to help them so they can be better equipped to meet the expectations. There can be a lot of different factors that influence how a person behaves and acts, so we look closely to find the best method to support their success.
